Get To Know Bahiya
The RBM: How long have you been writing?
Bahiya: Started at age 14 and got serious about it about a year ago.
The RBM: Growing up, who was your biggest influence? Why?
Bahiya: My grandmother has always been the inspiration behind everything that I do, including
writing. Her strength was evident to me throughout my life and her raising me forged a bond
between us that I find impossible to explain.
The RBM: Growing up, who influenced you as a person?
Bahiya: I love the Harry Potter books lol.
The RBM: Favorite author? Why?
Bahiya: Lerone Bennett....wrote The Challenge of Blackness
The RBM: What do you do in your spare time other than writing?
Bahiya: Umm...obviously I love to read lol...I knit, crochet, cook, and I love to hang out with my
friends to bounce ideas off of them.
The RBM: You cook a lot, so what is the best dish you can make?
Bahiya: Oh wow....umm my family loves my catfish stew and my meatloaf.
The RBM: Tell the Community something about Bahiya that we may not know?
Bahiya: Hmm. OK, I pig out when I'm sad or aggravated. Bad habit I know, but I'm working on it.
The RBM: Being 17 years old, does that hinder you when it comes to being taken seriously
as a writer?
Bahiya: I wish that I could say no, but the truth is that it does. Older people tend to think that I
don't know what I'm writing about, but I believe that the ones who realize that life doesn't
discriminate based on age are the ones who truly appreciate and relate to what I write.
The RBM: Describe yourself in 5 words to the visitors and other Community Members
reading this interview.
Bahiya: Empathetic, sensitive, perseverant (is that a word lol), Introspective, Intuitive
The RBM: Do you hope that writing will be your career? If not, what do you aspire to be?
Bahiya: I plan to have a nursing career, even if my poetry makes it unnecessary because I also love
to work with people. If I am able to become a serious 'writer' then I am more than open to that idea.
The RBM: Finally, what do you wanna say to those reading this interview?
Bahiya: First of all, thank you for taking the time to get to know me. To my fellow writers: keep
writing. Capture every thing you see, feel, touch and smell in words and let others enjoy your view
on the world. To everyone else: Thank you once again.
