The RBM: How long have you been writing?
Jaxx: I prayed to God one night to bless me with a talent, and I've been writing since I was eight. I
started writing little booklets with stories, and reading them at show and tell in school. My teacher
enjoyed my creative imagination, and would let me read my stories to the class.

The RBM: What does writing do for you?
Jaxx: Writing means freedom for me, because it allows me to live through the stories I create. I can
love freely, express myself freely, without judgment and condemnation.

The RBM: Growing up, who influenced you the most as a person? How?
Jaxx: My grandmother was my best friend, she always encouraged me to be a Lady and to have a
relationship with God. She was flawless, sophisticated and classy, I always admired her for the way she
carried herself. She would walk into a room like a Queen, and she had the respect of one. As a
preacher's wife she was aware of her role in the church, and was highly respected in the community.

The RBM: Who are your favorite authors? Why?
Jaxx: Bell hooks, Maya Angelou, and Cornell West, I admire and respect all these authors for their
passion for spiritual truth, history preservation, and self-progression.

The RBM: Who are you reading right now?
Jaxx: I recently finished Dare to Believe by Dominic Dompreh, and I just picked up Tavis Smiley's What
I Know for Sure: My Story of Growing Up in America.

The RBM: Does your name have any specific meaning?
Jaxx: Jaxx was given to me by my best friend, and it represents my real name Jacquelyn. The 1108
represents my other half in ASCII code (computer lingo)....xoxoxoxoxo

The RBM: As you've gotten older, how has your writing changed?
Jaxx: Not really the writing style itself, but what it means to you. The meaning of using God's blessing
of talent has become stronger since my mother, my muse died from breast cancer. My mother always
believed in my writing, so I continue on to honor her.

The RBM: If you were stranded on a deserted island with two people of your choice, who would
they be and why?
Jaxx: God for protection and Love, the Devil for entertainment and debate ..it would create a balanced
experience ..lol

The RBM: Favorite food?
Jaxx: Can I change this question to Favorite musician? Prince :) lol...I love music way more than food :)

The RBM: In five words, what best describes your personality?
Jaxx: I'm a B.I.T.C.H. = beautiful, intelligent, talented, charismatic, happy

The RBM: Do you hope to ever be published?
Jaxx: I've been blessed to see various writings of mine published. Years ago I use to write for Street
Flava magazine (http://www.stflava.com), ran by D. Solo out of Houston, Texas. Under editor Pam
Harris, I interviewed artists, attended events, and did movie/music reviews. I also went to middle/high
school with Brad Jordan *aka* Scarface. I use to listen to him rap for free at lunch time, and on the bus
ride home lol... Earlier this year I started back free lancing, and I got to interview the second season's
Project Runway winner Chloe Dao from Houston, Texas Lot 8 Boutique. My interview with her was
published on-line on the popular Bloggin' Project Runway. I was happy to land that interview, because
she was the underdog. Ms. Dao took the time to answer my questions a week before the New York
fashion show and she won!!!! My next goal is to get a hook up with Lil' Kim, because she has expressed
a desire to help youths in foster care. I would like to get her as a guest speaker for the child placing
agency I work for or get an interview with her.

The RBM: Finally, to the Community Members and Community visitors reading this interview,
what would you like to say?
Jaxx: The Mecca Lounge is a great place to learn and grow as a writer, and to admire the wonderful
talents of others. I've found it to be a blessing and an enjoyable place to hang out. I wish continued
success for everyone at Mecca, and I encourage other writers to join!!
