Get To Know Murfftown
The RBM: Tell the Community a little bit about yourself.
Murfftown: I'm a 23 year old college student. I'm pretty critical, I'm genuinely nice, when I
wanna be. I must warn you though I am a Gemini, so watch out for my twin, I'm a bit selfish,
insane, loyal (in a medieval knight kinda way lol), respectful, honest (sometimes brutally), open-
minded, creative, attention- seeking, and  “occasionally“, I'm a clown. So yeah, anyone wanna
nominate me for president?

The RBM: When did you begin to seriously write?
Murfftown: Pain, frustration, and a lack of expression led me to write. It all started in high school
for a Senior Poetry Book, where I entered 2 poems, one of them entitled “Why”, where I asked all
the questions that were unanswered in my life. I really enjoyed the response I got, so it was part
ego-boost and part expression for me. I never really expressed myself through speech, but I
learned that if I write, I could say whatever I felt and not feel insecure about it. I was also inspired
by the word play of Shakespeare, where I learned that not only could my thoughts produce an
influence, but my approach is also crucial.

The RBM: What or whom influenced you growing up?
Murfftown: Growing up my grandmother influenced me the most, she was more like my mother
than my birth mother. Her death also sparked my life's adult journey. She instilled the qualities and
knowledge I hold within.

The RBM: How would you describe your personality in one word?
Murfftown: Smooth

The RBM: Why?
Murfftown: I like stimulation and making an impact. I aim to please, I like anticipation, and
influencing minds and hearts in a positive way.

The RBM: When you die, how would you like to be remembered?
Murfftown: For the love in my heart, people I have inspired, struggles I fought, my
achievements, and remember my pain.

An Example Of Murfftowns' Writing:

Hey Mom
Hey mom, so beautiful you are with everyday,
Making sure we get off to school safely and at the same time on your way.
To that job that stresses you with so tight of a deadline.
Then you come home, assist us with homework before dinnertime.
Tired but before you lay your head down, you must bend down to clean up this compound mess,
and yes, I hear your sighs of distress as you clear out the floor.
And here comes the man we call dad, not to subtract, but add more.
If he would just embrace you, comfort you with the reassurance of love.
But from the door I hear issues escalating into a heated verbal fight.
So many thoughts, you relax, because your child has appeared in the corner of your sight.
Heart pounding but not keeping up with your mental state,
Easing the tone for my sake, returning later to the issue of debate.
Mom, see I know you are tired and frustrated when you close your eyes and exhale.
Now you are sick, I'm too young to cook, but I want to help you get well.
I can microwave you some soup, “No, don't get up, just tell me what buttons to push, Its ok“.
I just wanna be there for you, as you are for us on this day.
Its hard for you isn't it mom?
Everything isn't always about me and I just wanted to let you know some of the things I see.
You do a lot for my siblings and me, but who takes care of mommy?
Daddy could , but he's not around as much as you.
I think you deserve a reward for all the things you do.
Thank you for struggling and surviving, holding back the truth when dad said he would act, but
you knew he was lying.
Thank you for dealing with less of a man in hopes of structural stability in our family.
Thank you for stepping up, over, and beyond when it came to responsibility.
Your life is a constant change of occupation, 1 minute you are a nurse, cook, maid and a teacher.
Do you remember them?
All of those times you made promises you couldn't keep, it hurt you so much to let me down, that
you would weep.
But fret no more because back then I didn't understand.
How money and budgets work when I turned and walked away as my tears ran.
She's unstoppable, yet her own emotions, so critical, can beat her.
Leave her motionless, strip her guard and reveal her true heart.
She NEEDS help, craves it on multiple levels, how do you stay sane?
I may have no idea but I know there is a storm erupting in your brain.
But don't worry about me mom, you have nurtured this seed and guided its growth.
And I know once you read these words from within, you will be proud of us both.
We will make it...
