Get To Know Rhyme Cypha
The RBM: How long have you been writing?
Rhyme Cypha: I've been writing almost as far back as I can remember. I really started
understanding words in high school around my freshman year. I started writing rhymes and
poetry. Sophomore year I became part of a rap group (that never went anywhere!) and
freshman year in college I started a music label. I didn't find my poetic voice truly until last year.
Truly my poetry is like Jabez - born with intense pain.

The RBM: Who is your favorite author? Why?
Rhyme Cypha: I have a few favorite authors me, me and me No all jokes aside I devour
anything by John C. Maxwell, Maya Angelou, and Edgar Allen Poe. Maxwell understands
leadership and has a style of teaching that is matched by few. Maya Maya Maya - what can I
say about this woman - I once heard the goal of an artist is to create the definitive work that
which cannot be surpassed - she is the personification of that. Poe has a dark side that I haven't
dared to reach in myself yet.

The RBM: Favorite book?
Rhyme Cypha: You'd be surprised, I don't read fiction. Most of my library consist of books on
leadership, marketing and finance. I once heard that most self made millionaires homes have a
library. So I started building mine on the bedrock of Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie and John C.
Maxwell. My favorite book of all time is "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale
Carnegie.

The RBM: What do you do in your spare time, other than writing?
Rhyme Cypha: If I'm not building my business, husslin' or all other forms of making money -
I'm probably in the club. I'm not a true club hopper but my lifestyle currently looks like it.

The RBM: Why do you write?
Rhyme Cypha: One word - Expression

The RBM: What is your favorite movie?
Rhyme Cypha: Jurassic Park and The Matrix

The RBM: Favorite actor? Why?
Rhyme Cypha: Probably Denzel Washington, Will Smith and rapidly joining them is Jamie
Foxx. They are all very versatile. From Malcolm X to Training Day - Denzel has shown his
ability to draw a person in to a characters mind. Will Smith has led us from music to TV to
movies - although I'd like to see a few more less flashy roles for him and pieces where he can
remind people that acting is an art to him - maybe some drama pieces (much like Robin Williams
did for a few years). Jamie? What more can I say Wanda to Ray his work ethic is undeniable!

The RBM: Favorite sport?
Rhyme Cypha: Thinking - and that’s a very dangerous sport for some! I'm not really into
sports like that but I'll watch basketball when the time arises and a little football. It started
irritating me that I was watching these millionaires play a game - and I was broke!!! So needless
to say I'm on my grind now to even up the score.

The RBM: Who influenced you growing up?
Rhyme Cypha: My mother and father. Mom taught me everything she could, pop showed what
not to do (take that how ever you want it). I decided early in life to be the opposite of my father.
And I've done pretty good at it, lately we've become close and I'm learning more what true
manhood is about.

The RBM: Ever used writing as a tool to meet Women? Does it work?
Rhyme Cypha: Never used it as a tool to meet women. I have used it to seduce a few. And a
gentleman never kisses and tells (except sometimes to his boys)

The RBM: To visitors who may be reading this interview, what would you like to say to
them?
Rhyme Cypha: Two things - Everyone has some art inside of them, don't forget to take it out
and use it sometimes! And second - language is one of the most powerful tools a person can
have, use it wisely, sharpen it, use it carefully and use it OFTEN.
