Get To Know Sparky
The RBM: How long have you been writing and what made you decide to write?
Sparky: I have been writing for about six years now, the thing that made me decide to write
was the fact that I couldn't express myself will out loud but I could do it better in writing.

The RBM: Since you began writing at a young age, how has your writing changed since
then?
Sparky: My writing has really improved, I use to write about simple things but as I got older I
developed a style and a better way to write what I need to write.

The RBM: Who is your favorite author and what about this author makes her/him your
favorite?
Sparky: I would have to say Maya Angelou because she writes about one thing but is talking
about another. She can make you think about things that you never thought about in a new way.
She speaks life into her poetry and writing, and you can actually get a feel to what she is trying
to say.

The RBM: For those of us who moved from AAP (a poetry group on HI5 for those who
don't know), we've all kinda matured together. How has knowing a lot of Community
Members from there helped you as a writer, if at all?
Sparky: Oh, it has helped me a lot, the Community Members that I know from the AAP site has
encourage me to write in a way that no one else has done, and I thank them for that. (I won’t
say any names because I don’t want to forget anyone, they know who they are). Reading their
work has also giving idea for mine, and to know that I’m not alone, to read their work and see
that their going through the same things I am, and they came out of it, gave me the feeling as if I
can too.

The RBM: Other than writing, what do you do in your spare time?
Sparky: I play Volley Ball, sing in the choir, go to work and read my Bible.

The RBM: Who inspires you to write?
Sparky: Everyone inspires me to write, if they are going through and I can’t say what I feel to
them I write it and who knows it may help not just that one person but someone else.

The RBM: What is your favorite color and why?
Sparky: Purple, I think it’s a rare color to like and it a color that gets my attention.

The RBM: Favorite book?
Sparky: Right now my favorite book is Black Boy by Richard Wright, but I think my Bible is
going to out do that, in do time.

The RBM: Do you write about your faith a lot in your work? How does your Spirituality
affect your everyday life outside of writing?
Sparky: No I do not write about my faith a lot, just sometimes. Actually my spirituality is a big
part of my everyday life, I don’t do most of the things my friends do because it’s not me, and it’
s in line with my faith.

The RBM: I know that you wrote a book a few years ago, ever wanna be published again?
Sparky: Yes, I do I am working on my second book now. It a story that God gave to me in
various dreams (sounds weird, I know). I had been fasting for over a period of 21 days and
during that time I have three dreams, and they were stories, well every dream was part of one
story. Not in a row though, wherever the first dream left off at, the other dream would continue.

The RBM: What do you wanna do after you're done with school (career wise)?
Sparky: I want to go into Journalism and psychology.

The RBM: For the visitors reading this interview, what would you like to say to them?
Sparky: I’m glad you all got to know me, thank you for this opportunity, and I hope to get to
know all as well.
